Friends,
Tell me if any of this sounds familiar?
Do you tend to drive the same roads and walk the same paths?
Watch the same the television shows or check out the same social media? What about eating the same food?
We are rarely away from our devices that serve to check the endless emails, social media and of course, taking lots of photos that we want to share or post on social media.
Life can be a blur.
This is me. Where are our thoughts? Most likely ahead of us, preparing for the next activity. Are we even tasting our food? Are we paying much attention to the photograph we took or is the idea to get it posted quickly so we can move on to the next thing.
I am a recent certified Health and Wellness Coach and in the midst of getting my certification in Lifestyle Medicine. I had the privilege of listening to a positive psychology presentation. What I want to share with you is so simple but can be life changing.
If we can prepare our minds for a positive mindset before we start our days, we are more empowered to see our day a little differently. This positive mindset includes being more mindful of the present moment. It takes some practice and some dedication. But don’t give up, because a little really goes a long way.
So, what does this have to do with taking better pics?
Stay with me here.
What I found is that getting up a little earlier and spending some time in prayer and meditation for about 10 minutes made me feel more positive, more present. I try to focus on my breath. Sometimes, the mind wanders but that’s ok, just bring it back to the breath. It’s a process, so don’t get frustrated if it’s hard at first.
Cultivating a more mindful mindset from the start of the day will allow you to be more mindful about that commute, that walk and the food you are eating. Even, being more present will help you see the details in your photographs so you will be get as much enjoyment from them as your audience does. Being mindful will allow you to see those details better, enjoy the process to focus on getting that better photograph.
Life just got a little bit richer, more enjoyable and more meaningful. You didn’t change your schedule much either.
And yes, your photographs will be better because you are more focused on the moment. Now you can share.
In health,
C
